When I first started posting content online, I did it for a few reasons:
I wanted to share whatever I thought was cool
I wanted to make money (from client work and digital products)
I didn’t have any money for paid marketing
It absolutely changed my life. And it’s changing the lives of so many others I know around me.
Many people fall in to the trap of thinking they need to get lots of views and followers to be “successful” online. It couldn’t be further from the truth, and I’ve seen it countless times.
I’ve seen people who get millions of views make no money or get in anything in return. And I have friends who get only a few hundred views making $50k+ per month.
The type of content you post matters a lot. Posting entertainment style content will get you lots of views, but it won’t make you much money. Posting about businesses services or educational content won’t get you many views, but will make you a ton of money.
Other benefits of posting:
I’ve made so many new friends, all over the world. I can hit them up any time I land in a city and it completely changes my experience.
New business related connections and useful people that can provide all sorts of value
Mutual respect for others who post and make stuff, they see you’re a real person and find it a lot more relatable
All I’m saying is you should start posting content. Everyone has something of value to share with the world. And it’s free to post!
New Link Lowdown website!
I made a new version of Link Lowdown - a proper directory. And wow, the response has been insane. It’s had over 20,000 new visitors in the last couple of weeks. And a lot of people are saving it as a source for things they can come back to.
I even added a fun little Leaderboard section. Companies can pay to put themselves on it. The more they pay, the higher they are.
The Link Lowdown section of this newsletter won’t be going anywhere, but the website is a great way to find an archive of links and see a lot more than the 5-10 I post in the newsletter.
