Every person you know who has built any sort of following online has cringed at themselves heavily. Trust me, I know that feeling too well. I still cringe now.

The X post above was the best example of that. I hesitated before posting it because I thought it was cringe. I thought maybe I’m showing off. But it ended up outperforming my usual posts.

Uploading my first bunch of YouTube videos felt horrendous at first. Even now when I watch them back I cringe. The quality, the way I look uncomfortable, the way I talk…ergh.

But cringe is growth. When you cringe, it means you know you can do better.

Getting over the cringe is what most people never do. They’re too worried about what their friends think, what their family thinks, and what random strangers online think.

I’ve learned from my own personal experiences and from talking to other creators and business folks that once you get past the cringe once, it’s so much easier in the future. You realise it means nothing. You challenge yourself more. You try things fearlessly.

Everything is cringe until it works.
